In a compelling interview on "The Joe Pags Show," Brandon Straka, the founder of the WalkAway movement, shared his journey from being a Democrat to becoming a conservative voice and why he continues to walk away from the Democratic Party.
Straka explained how he started the WalkAway movement, recounting the personal costs and the significant rewards that came with it. He spoke about losing many friends but also gaining a larger community that shares his values. Straka noted that this movement not only changed his life but also altered the course of his career.
Reflecting on the role of legacy media, Straka expressed his shock at discovering, six years ago, that the news was not telling the whole story. He described how the media's reaction to Trump’s 2016 victory—what he calls "mass hysteria"—was a turning point for him. Straka admitted that he once suffered from "Trump Derangement Syndrome," but it led him to investigate how the media got Trump so wrong, ultimately realizing that much of what he had believed was based on lies.
Straka also discussed his efforts to engage with minority groups, sharing his path to becoming a voice for those who feel marginalized within the Republican Party. He commented on the Republican Party’s tendency to react to the news rather than setting the agenda, comparing this with the Democratic Party’s strategy.
As the conversation turned to the RNC versus the DNC, Straka shared his view that the Democratic Party often extends false olive branches, leaving people feeling duped. He encouraged Joe Pags’ audience to share their own experiences with the WalkAway movement, promoting a giveaway to further spread the message.
