President Trump Addresses NYT Report on His Taxes

Debate 2020

President Trump says he paid millions of dollars in federal income tax in 2016, denying a New York Times report that he only paid $750.

During the first presidential debate in Cleveland last night, Trump said his financial statements show his assets are "so good," despite the NYT report claiming that Trump is hundreds-of-thousands of dollars in debt.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris both released their 2019 tax returns ahead of the debate.

Biden claimed that the current tax code put Trump "in a position to pay less taxes than a schoolteacher." He added that Trump takes advantage of the tax code, calling him "the worst president America has ever had."

The President clapped back at Biden, "He passed a tax bill that gave us all these privileges."
