President Trump Announces That Sarah Sanders Is Leaving The White House

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders Speaks To The Media

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month. President Donald Trump made the surprise announcement in two tweets, saying that she "has done an incredible job."

Sanders will return to Arkansas, and if she ever decides to run for office, she can count on the support of President Trump.

After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas....
....She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas - she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!

Sanders worked on Trump's 2016 presidential campaign before replacing Sean Spicer as the White House Press Secretary in July 2017.

Her tenure was marked with controversy and she constantly battled members of the media during press briefings. As a result, she cut down the number of press briefings and has not held one since March 11.

It is unclear who will succeed Sanders when she officially steps down.
